This page is maintained by The Balmaiden to describe our own practices. When you subscribe to the newsletter we store your email address and where you signed up from. When you create an account we store your email address, a display name, an optional short bio and an optional avatar image.

If you comment or react on an article, that content is stored alongside your account so it can be displayed and moderated.

We record anonymous article events — a view, a completed read, a reaction, a comment — so contributors can see how their writing travels. These events use a randomly generated browser identifier, not your name, and they are only surfaced in aggregate to the article's author and to editors.

To send the newsletter you asked for, to show your name next to your contributions, to moderate the community, and to understand which stories resonate. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers.

Accounts, articles, images and subscriber records are stored in our managed cloud database and file storage, protected by row-level access rules so people can only read and edit what they are entitled to. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.

You can edit your display name and bio at any time from your account page, unsubscribe from the newsletter using the link in any email, and ask us to delete your account and associated content by writing to us. We will action deletion requests promptly.
